
Lamb and Sweet Potato Mash
Tender slow-cooked lamb blended with creamy sweet potato. An excellent way to introduce red meat, which is one of the best sources of iron for growing babies.
Ingredients(6)
- 100g lean lamb (leg or shoulder), trimmed of fat and cut into small pieces
- 1 medium sweet potato (about 200g), peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup water or low-sodium stock
- 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
- Tiny pinch of dried rosemary, crushed
- 2 tablespoons breast milk, formula, or water (for thinning)
Instructions(8 steps)

Heat olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Add lamb pieces and cook for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly browned on all sides.

Add sweet potato cubes, water or stock, and crushed rosemary.

Bring to a gentle simmer, then cover and reduce heat to low.

Cook for 25-30 minutes until lamb is very tender and sweet potato breaks apart easily.

Transfer everything including cooking liquid to a blender.

Blend until smooth for younger babies, or mash with a fork for a chunkier texture for older babies.

Add breast milk, formula, or water to reach desired consistency. Serve lukewarm.
